Understanding and embracing the heart of a victim
requires compassion. Many have paved the way by
providing avenues to raise awareness of domestic
violence but we still have a journey ahead of us that
has yet to be traveled.

Are you up for a challenge?

If you were referred to my space, googled it or just
happened to stumbled upon it, I believe all things
happen for a reason.

Together we can break the vicious cycle of domestic
violence by educating ourselves to the warning signs
and available resources as well as sharing what we
have learned with others.

-Do you live in fear of your loved one?

-Does he/she control you?

-Call you name?

-Constantly criticize you?

-Threaten you or use intimidation?

-Hit, push or slap you?

-Are you blamed whenever things go wrong?

-Is your free time limited to what interests your
partner only?

-Does your partner become aggressive, angry or
abusive when he drinks?

-Is your partner jealous?

-Do you make excuses to try to justify your
partner’s behavior?

-Have you become withdrawn from family and
friends?

-Have you begun looking over your shoulder
while you are out?

-Do you feel like you are walking on eggshells?

-Does your partner have a history of violence?

-Does he/she have a “Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde”
personality?

-Are you forced to have unwanted sex after you
have said no?

-Do you feel you must ask permission to do
things?

-Does your partner try to hurt you in other
ways?

-Are you in fear or your partner’s temper?

-Does your partner blame you for failures in
the relationship?

-Does your partner accuse you of having
affairs?

-Does your partner constantly question you
about past relationships?

-Does your partner destroy your property?

Can you identify with any of these signs? If yes,
seriously examine your relationship and seek the
support of a trusted friend, qualified counselor
and/or domestic violence advocate.

Now that you know the warning signs, share
what you have learned with two people. Challenge
them to share the information with two others.
There are now four people spreading the
awareness of domestic violence and ultimately
women will now be more equipped to protect
themselves and also seek the much needed
assistance to remain safe.

If you took the challenge, send me an email. I
would personally like to thank you for your
support. Unbeknownst to you, your acceptance
of this challenge could have informed a person
that may soon encounter a victim of domestic
violence.

This challenge has now equipped a victim of
domestic violence with information that can be
used to break this vicious cycle.
